About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists to deliver patient-centered care, empowering individuals to regain their independence and improve their overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform therapy visits and work directly with the supervising Occupational Therapist to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Provide hands-on, patient-centered occupational therapy services in alignment with the therapist’s plan of care.
- Travel to various facilities or residential locations to provide therapy services, ensuring patients receive consistent and high-quality care.
- Conduct follow-up visits and maintain accurate, up-to-date records of patient progress using a universal electronic documentation system.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of therapy programs targeting:
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Functional mobility
- Range of motion & strength
- Coordination & cognitive/perceptual remediation
- Functional maintenance programs
- Maintain a weekly caseload of 28-32 visits (for full-time), ensuring efficient and effective care delivery.
- Foster positive, supportive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and community personnel, ensuring a collaborative and empathetic approach to care.
Requirements
- Active and valid COTA license.
- Current certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance are required for travel to patient locations.
- Experience or familiarity with various settings, including outpatient care, geriatrics, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient care, or home health is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and patience while working with diverse populations.
- Familiarity with occupational health practices is a plus.
- A strong dedication to providing high-quality patient care and improving patient outcomes.
